OASIS (Opposing Abuse with Service, Information and Shelter) is a private, 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault Watauga and surrounding counties.
OASIS answers approximately 64 crisis calls per month. We serve an average of 31 clients per month, around 15 of whom are new clients to OASIS. The most typical type of assistance that we provide is crisis intervention and referrals. Clients receive not only shelter, but case management services with information about alternatives to living in violence. We also provide referrals for services related to housing, food stamps, and financial assistance.
OASIS also provides advocacy for victims of sexual assault. We are available to offer support to clients while in the hospital during and after physical examinations and provide referrals to any appropriate agencies or organizations. In addition, OASIS provide clothing to the victims who may have had theirs taken for evidence.
